Parasyte -maxim - 100%

Wow. Where to start...

The art, the story, the character development, the scene, everything was spot on!

I couldn't put this down. I managed to watch all 24 episodes in 1 week.

The stuff I liked the most...
- The explanation for the names for the parasytes. Migi which is the Japanese word for "right".
- The fact that the parasytes made a human baby and the mother bonded with her child.
- The dog parasyte!
-The explanation of the mouth parasyte and how it saved the host's life.
- The explanation and the progression of Shinchi's strength.
- The realization of Migi being a hero!
- The balance of parasytes and how they fit into the human race.
- The Mayor and what he turned out to be.
- Shinchi loosing so many of his friends and family.
- The mob/ganga and the school fights.
- The fight between Reiko Tamura and the three parasytes that wanted to kill her.
- The idea that some humans can sense parasytes and how that skill is developed.

There is so much! Fantastic anime! This gets a 100%

Halloween Hisser

The Dixie Reptile show was today! http://www.dixiereptileshow.com/

It seemed a bit smaller this time. There were fewer vendors.

A long time ago I had Madagascar Hissers but just after they all had babies they managed to escape. My wife was unhappy to say the least. After much convincing and giving her time to forget her anger she let me get these Halloween Hissers (Elliptorhina javanica). They are about the same as Madagascar but they are smaller and more colorful.

After getting these I did some reading and found out about isopod (Roly Poly) breeding. Turns out that people use these little guys to keep their cages clean for the tarantulas. They are also colorful and have many different varieties. I hope to get into this after the first round babies from the Halloween Hissors.

10 Cloverfield Lane - 65%

Had high hopes for this and at the end I felt like I had just seen a good movie. But, the more I thought about it the more I didn't like it. The acting was great and John Goodman was fantastic but it was the plot that caused me issues. Howard (Goodman) played a conspiracy theory nut and he abducted Michelle to be his bunker.

The issue I had was with the was a character named Emmett who was a fellow survivor trapped with Michelle. Emmett put the viewer at ease and made you think that maybe Howard is telling the truth. The difference between Michelle and Emmett was that Emmett wanted to be there from the start and Michelle was abducted. If Howard really was the character he was made out to be he would have never let Emmett in from the start. He would have had another girl instead.

Another issue I had is that Michelle had some back story about how she always panicked and ran away from bad situations but in every scene she was quick thinking and calm to defeat the situation. She showed no fear when steeling the keys and when facing the alien.

Lastly, the tie in with the original Cloverfield was weak at best.

Walking Dead S6 - 90%

Some great episodes and a couple boring / not so great. The biggest problem I had with the season was the "jesus" and Morgan characters.
- Morgan's character is awful. His conviction not to kill has no basis and his religion is a joke.
- "jesus" is to add poke and prod at Christianity.

Episode 2: Epic with Carol dominating the Wolves.

Episode 3: I knew he wasn't dead because he wasn't on the talking dead...

Episode 4:  Slow and painful and not in a good way because of Morgan.

Episode 6: Abraham dawns his cool uniform and has some good character development.

Episode 8: Seemed like a bad dream, like it was gonna stop and say "this is what really happened..."

Episode 9: Introduced the "jesus" character. The frustrating part about this character was that he was actually funny.

Episode 12: Wow. Go Glenn, it is about time you joined the club.

Episode 13: Fantastic death for Denise. Didn't like her much but it was a great death. How Eugene helped them get away was also funny and his analogy of the RPG was epic.

Episode 15: Carol has been one of my favorite characters but what is she doing?

Episode 16: Epic speech and introduction of Negan! Great way to end the season!

Leaves you hanging!

This season was definitely better than many of the past seasons.

Sword Art Online II - 98%

The first SAO was great and the second didn't disappoint.

The season is broken up into three distinct plots with the first being the biggest.

Part 1: Gun Gale Online
The scenery of a gun mmo was a great change and stage for the first plot. The explanation of how Kirito is able to make up for his lack of experience with skill is good. The character development and relationship between Kirito and Shino was great. The twist of how the murders were being performed was also interesting. The only thing I found super annoying was how the camera was often focused on inappropriate places of Shino. This happened so frequently that it was noticeable and awkward but it seemed to only happen during this part of the story. That aside the final battle was well "shot" and the tie in to the real world made it more than just a game.

Part 2: Quest for Excalibur
This story was a return to the original stage of fantasy and swords. The purpose was to introduce a conscience AI and return Asuna to her old home from the first season. About the only tie in with the first part of this season was that Shino was now a minor support character on the team. The whole notion that a conscience AI can just emerge once the conditions are right is preposterous. Reality aside and this being a fictional anime this plot point was fine. I am sure it will come more into play for the future seasons of SAO.

Part 3: Medicuboid
This was perhaps the most interesting plot. I agree that VR will likely play a major role for people with disabilities in the near future. This plot expresses how death has an impact even when the person has never been communicated with in the real world. The claim is that VR is a sufficient medium for building a meaningful relationship. I agree with that but it is not true for the current social media and superficial 80 character tweets. True relationships take time and self-sacrifice which can happen in the right environment virtual or not. I do wonder and dream about what the future holds.

SAO is entertaining, thought provoking, and memorable.
